My name is Daniel Migliore. Before becoming a watchmaker, I was a customer like you. I never felt comfortable handing my hard earned, prized possessions over to a sales clerk to be shipped off and hacked on by some apprentice that is a dozen times removed from any emotional investment in me or my watch. Every service or repair encounter left me in worse shape than the last. It was truly one disaster after another, and this is what the best of the best have to offer? There was little care put into my watches and even less into showing any appreciation for me as a customer. Across the board, customer service was all but non-existant. I would call service centers for the top Swiss watch companies in the world, and it was no different than a phone call with my cable or car insurance company. Audibly unenthused, with a how can I not help you tone, followed by what they cannot do for me and passive aggressive apologies. "I'm sorry sir, but we cannot do anything except charge you thousands of dollars for unnecessary services before we can provide that 5 minute solution you need. The service department is running behind, it will be approximately 6 months. You would think, that problem wouldn't exist if they didnt force lengthy and expensive services and simply provided that which you actually needed. Routine replacement of consumables like bezel inserts or scratched up antireflective coatings were all held hostage behind unnecessary "mandatory interventions" that took half a year and $1,000+ to get done. As a hobbiest, I had already started to accumulate a few basic tools and skills and I had completed a few watchmaker courses. I knew the only way to do things right, was to do them myself. So, I did. Unbeknownst to me at the time, these experiences were as valuable as anything I would learn from some of the greatest watchmakers in the world. The principals by which Swiss-HQ operates, were shaped by those experiences. Those experiences changed my life forever.
Once you remove the human touch, the human connection, the very soul of these extremely special watches, disappears. Clients become numbers. Art becomes bottom lines. We are moving away from heirlooms that journey through life with us, to be passed down, to disposable movements swapped in and out like a pit stop at a F1 race. Every single watch on my bench receives meticulous care and attention to detail that cannot be found anywhere else. The goal is to restore not only the timepiece, but the spark that ignites our passion and love for these storied brands. To do so in a way they themselves no longer will. Swiss-HQ is your watchmaker. Your friend in the business.
